Objectives

To allow students to learn English more effectively and with more exposure to language arts, our school organised The English Drama Team as one of the extra-curricular activities. English Drama Team does not only equip students with different drama techniques, but also provides a chance for our students to perform and shine on stage. Students are proffered with opportunities to see and have hands-on experience in theatre production.

‘Matilda’

“To change the world, it takes a little genius.” From the children’s novel Matilda by Roald Dahl

Matilda Wormwood is a gifted and exquisite little girl. She likes reading and what she reads is different from the other children. Unfortunately, Matilda’s family always misunderstands her as she is different from their ways of life. Matilda is sent to school that has a kindly teacher, Miss Honey, loyal friends and a sadistic principal, Miss Trunchbull. Miss Trunchbull does not like the children and Miss Honey. Miss Trunchbull believes in cruelty but Miss Honey believes in kindness. Matilda is brave. She does not agree of what Miss Trunchbull does. She rallies her school to rise up against the evil head mistress.

‘Emotional? Emotion-No!’

Admit it: There’s no right or wrong emotions!

Emotional? Emotion-No! is a skit about the turmoil aroused by the switcheroo of emotions of the main character, Leah. Leah, a teenager undergoing puberty, believes that people should not have so many emotions in a day.

Emotional? Emotion-No! hopes to tell the audience that there is no right or wrong emotions towards certain things. What’s important is that we need to learn how to address our emotions in a healthy manner. Embrace your emotions and follow your heart!
